Durga Puja and Garba Mahotsav 2026
We at Triveni have joined hands with Aylesbury Hindu Temple (AHT) to celebrate the biggest event of the year, Durga Puja & Garba Mahotsav 2026 on the occasion of Navaratri, to be celebrated from 16th through 20th of October 2026 at Bowls Building, Stoke Mandeville Stadium, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, HP21 9PP. Like prior years, with unyielding determination, we have set our sights on engaging the wider community in our vicinity.
Durgotsav (aka Autumn festival) is one of the major festivals originating from the Indian sub-continent and celebrated by the South Asian community. In 2021, Durgotsav in Kolkata was accorded the honour of inclusion on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List. This event involves those who are part of the community, primarily from the South Asian sub-continent; however, this is an open-door event, so we are more than happy to welcome people from all backgrounds, regardless of religion, caste, gender, race, or creed.
Durga Puja is one of the major festivals originating from the Indian subcontinent. It is celebrated widely across India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. In 2021, Durga Puja in Kolkata was included in the Intangible Cultural Heritage List by UNESCO. Garba is a popular folk dance from Gujarat that was added to UNESCO’s Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2023, mostly performed during the Navratri/Durga Puja Celebration. Goddess Durga is worshipped as the embodiment of Shakti (feminine power), and the festival celebrates the triumph of good over evil. These 5 days of celebration are an occasion not only to engage in prayer and worship, but more significantly, an opportunity for the entire community to come together in the true spirit of love and friendship, irrespective of religion, race, colour or creed.
